Geoffrey Kamworor Shatters World Record at Copenhagen Half MarathonBy Adam Kopet Geoffrey Kamworor continued his reign as one of the best half marathon runners of all-time at Sunday's Copenhagen Half Marathon. The Kenyan took 17 seconds off the record, crossing the finish line in 58:01. It was a blustery, and, at times, rainy day in Copenhagen, but that did not stop Kamworor from leaving the competition behind after the 10K mark of the race. His third 5K split of 13:31, from 10K to 15K, was pushed on by a strong tailwind. Kamworor slowed in the final quarter of the race, after turning back into the wind, but that was not enough to prevent him from crossing the line in a world record. Finishing behind Kamworor was Benard Kipkorir Ngeno of Kenya, more than a minute back in 59:16. Ethiopia's Berehanu Wendemu Tsegu finished third in 59:22. In all, six men broke 60 minutes. The women's race was won by Ethiopia's Birhane Dibaba Adugna in 1:05:57. The Kenyan duo of Evaline Chirchir and Dorcas Jepchirchir Tuitoek finished second and third in 1:06:22 and 1:06:36, respectively.
